New Demo Progress Update

What's up gamers—this update will be relatively short in terms of word count. I'll let some juicy screenshots do most of the talking!

Full transparency: the new demo for Amadeus is going to be delayed slightly. However, we are so very close to there, and the new demo is still coming February. It's just going to come a little later in February than initially planned. I will announce the date when the demo is 100% finished, so you'll KNOW it's happening. Catch that announcement here, or bookmark the linktree and check back.

I'd still like to share a teaser of what's to come, because it's getting REALLY exciting!

Features & Screenshots

In addition to the visual changes, the new demo features:

  • Cursor changes when hovering over interactibles
  • (Diegetic!) text backlog
  • Toggle for auto text progression
  • Menu with settings for sound volume + auto text speed

Remaining Checklist

The demo is almost there. There are just a few things left to do, namely:

  • Redrew a few more backgrounds
  • Add more things to click on for flavor
  • Thoroughly playtest the final build on intended release platforms
  • Prepare game pages on itch & Steam for launch!

(It bears mentioning that I could not finish all of the art on time because I have a wrist injury that limits what I can accomplish without worsening it. Since this game features a protagonist with screwed up wrists, I feel I should acknowledge that as part of the reason for the delay.)

I am very excited about what the game has turned into. I have a clear vision that was not yet finalized when the first prototype was made, and there are seeds of that vision which won't be fully formed until much later, planted in the new demo. It will be in a state that allows theorizing and questioning - my personal favorite part of playing visual novels. I hope you'll play it when it's ready!
